Joseph Rios

One of Northern California’s scholarship recipients is Joseph Rios. Joseph has completed one summer quarter and one full quarter at California State University at Hayward. By the end of summer 2004, Joseph will have completed his MS in computer science.

To date, Joseph’s classes have been engaging and challenging and Joseph has worked hard to maintain a 4.0 in all of his computer science courses. Joseph is currently teaching a math class at CSUH and another at Holy Names College in Oakland to help him through school.

The scholarship awarded to Joseph by the Open Door Foundation in the Spring of 2002 truly helped him to maintain his focus on his schoolwork during his transition to graduate work. In addition, receiving such an award encourages Joseph to value his education a bit more. Joseph hopes that the Foundation will continue to help out students whose goals can meet their drive with a small bit of encouragement and assistance.
